Heavy Eyes

With the project "Heavy Eyes" we have been able to show that imaging alone - even with the highest resolution MRI or CT scanners - is not sufficient to understand the biomechanics of the human body. Our simulations of the oculomotor mechanics have revealed that in highly myopic patients, the observed eye movement disorders are caused by the oblique extraocular muscles, not as commonly assumed by the rectus muscles.
